JEFF SCHRAG
________

Jeff Schrag, 57, is the founder of Mother’s Brewing Co. and an independent business owner.

Schrag has spent his life building small businesses and developing real estate. His career began as a journalist and newspaper publisher in Missouri in 1989. His businesses have been diverse spanning the gamut from newspapers to sports publications to a beauty salon to wholesale formalwear jewelry to brewing and selling craft beer.

Along the way, Schrag has always been an avid community volunteer, a trait he learned from his parents while growing up on their family farm. He was elected to be president of his first Chamber of Commerce in Buckner, Missouri in 1991 and has served on statewide boards for newspapers, craft breweries and youth education. He often serves as the chairman or president.

Schrag purchased The Daily Events publication in 1995 and has maintained his office in Downtown Springfield ever since. He was elected chairman of the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce in 2014 and chairman of the Community Foundation of the Ozarks in 2017.

Community service is deep within his heart and ethos. He currently serves on the Missouri State University Board of Governors, the Missouri Press Service Board and the Downtown Springfield Community Improvement District Board of Directors. He received the Excellence in Business Award from Ozarks Technical College in 2015 and was awarded Downtown Business of the Year by the Downtown Springfield Association in 2019.

He is married to Mary Schrag. His step-daughter, Ashley and her husband Cameron, have three children. They live in Springfield as do Schrag’s parents and his mother-in-law.

Schrag’s personal motto is “leave everything better than you found it.” He strives to do this with businesses, properties, people, and organizations.
